Attewell Expands Further - Reaches for the Sky

Hayes, UK. Attewell Limited (“Attewell”), part of the Shimtech Group’s Gap Management Division (“Shimtech”), and the largest specialist aerospace shim manufacturing business in Europe, today announces that it has completed the first phase of a multi-million dollar capacity expansion programme.

The initial phase of the expansion programme has involved the extension of floor space at Attewell’s state-of-the-art facility near London’s Heathrow Airport and the installation of additional high-speed, 5-axis CNC-machining capacity.

Additional manufacturing floor space will be created through the addition of a large mezzanine structure which will enable Attewell to expand its capacity to precision machine glass and carbon-fiber composite details.

Speaking of the capacity expansion, Shimtech CEO, Howard Kimberley, said:

“Attewell has seen phenomenal growth in recent years as we have been working more closely with our customers to deploy programme-specific gap management solutions for the current generation of carbon-rich commercial airframes.

“Our solutions are based on the straightforward principle of a triple helix:  reduced flow time for our customers’ assembly lines as build rates increase, aircraft weight savings, and greater working capital efficiency for our customers.

“At Shimtech, we will continue to find ways to help support our customers with ambitious investment and best technology solutions.  As the only Gap Management specialist in the World with internal composite fabrication capability, we aim to offer our customers more-for-less to ensure they stay ahead in an increasingly competitive market.”
